With a great cast, renowned director and an intriguing origin story, what could go wrong? Right?!
Answering my own question: the movie could be a mess of barely connected, uninteresting side plots, almost letting the central case, that gives the film its title, forgotten to be solved incoherently in the last act.
There is almost nothing about the actual investigation of Elizabeth Short’s murder, and I suspect a lot of it was made up to fit the movie (or novel which the movie was based on).
I guess the only good thing is the performances and characters of Scarlett Johansson and Mia Kirshner. Even actors I like, such as Josh Hartnett and Aaron Eckhart didn’t captivate me this time.
Desapointed!
